2. Hosting and server log files
This website and its email service are hosted by IONOS SE, Elgendorfer Str. 57, 56410 Montabaur, Germany. IONOS processes data on my behalf where applicable. When you access the website, the hosting systems may process technical data such as your IP address, date and time of access, requested page or file, referrer URL, browser type, operating system and access status. This processing is necessary to deliver the website, maintain stability and security, and investigate misuse. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. Log data is deleted when it is no longer required for these purposes, subject to security incidents and statutory retention duties.
3. Contact by email and contact form
If you contact me by email or through the contact form, I process the information you provide, including your name, email address and message, in order to respond. The form is provided using WPForms and messages are delivered to the IONOS-hosted mailbox contact@janthomsen.com. Technical information may also be processed where necessary to operate and protect the form.
The legal basis is Article 6(1)(b) GDPR where your request concerns a contract or pre-contractual steps, and otherwise Article 6(1)(f) GDPR based on the legitimate interest in responding to enquiries. Information is deleted after the enquiry has been resolved unless statutory retention obligations or the establishment, exercise or defence of legal claims require longer storage.
4. Cookies and similar technologies
The public website is intended to operate without non-essential cookies unless you actively request third-party content. WordPress may use technically necessary cookies for administrators and logged-in users. Any technically necessary storage is used under Section 25(2) TDDDG; related personal-data processing is based on Article 6(1)(f) GDPR. If optional services requiring consent are introduced, they will only be activated after consent and this notice will be updated.
5. Anonymous visitor statistics
This site uses Statify to count page views in an aggregated manner. Statify is designed to work without cookies and without creating visitor profiles. The resulting aggregate statistics help me understand general use of the site. The legal basis is Article 6(1)(f) GDPR.
6. Locally hosted fonts
The fonts used for the site design are hosted locally on this website. Loading these fonts does not establish a connection to Google or another external font provider.
7. Embedded third-party content
Pages may contain third-party media or other embedded content. The Embed Privacy function initially blocks this content. A connection to the relevant provider is made only when you actively choose to load it. The provider may then receive technical data such as your IP address and may set cookies or use similar technologies. The legal basis is your consent under Article 6(1)(a) GDPR and, where applicable, Section 25(1) TDDDG. You can withdraw consent for the future by reloading the page and not activating the content.
8. Recipients and international transfers
Personal data is shared only where necessary with service providers used to operate the website and email, particularly IONOS, or where required by law. A transfer outside the European Economic Area may occur when you activate third-party content. In those cases, the provider is responsible for the relevant safeguards and transfer mechanism.
9. Your rights
Subject to the applicable legal requirements, you have rights of access, rectification, erasure, restriction of processing, data portability and objection. Where processing is based on consent, you may withdraw it at any time for the future. You also have the right to complain to a data protection supervisory authority.
